It's called "slippage" - it's very common and it is important to check that you are still a safe driver. It is one of the reasons NZ has the graduated licensing system so that drivers are re-tested after a period of time to check they are skilled competent drivers to have their restricted conditions removed.

It will also prepare you for the hazard identification and response part of the test so you can practice scanning for hazards, saying what they are and what you are doing about them while driving. It can also help put you at ease so you are more relaxed for your actual test.
